DAY 1: Friday, March 9, 2018 - Depart the Miami, FL Airport on our American Airlines trans-Atlantic flight into London Heathrow Airport. M

DAY 2: Saturday, March 10, 2018 - Upon arrival in London, we meet our driver and guide and transfer to our waiting motor coach.  Our journey begins as we enjoy a guided panoramic sightseeing tour of London.  We see Buckingham Palace, home of the Queen, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.  We see Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, which is guarded by the Beefeaters and contains the crown jewels, and Westminster Abbey.  We visit St. Paul’s Cathedral, the great Gothic building which was designed by Sir Christopher Wren to replace the medieval cathedral destroyed in the fire of 1666.  The crypt here contains the tombs of Admiral Nelson and the Duke of Wellington.  We check into our hotel and enjoy a “welcome to England” dinner.  Overnight London. DAY 3: Sunday, March 11, 2018 - After breakfast we celebrate Eucharist at Westminster Abbey, site of the coronations of Britain’s royalty.  This afternoon we enjoy a cruise down the Thames to the Tower of London for a tour where we see the Yeoman Warders of the Tower in their Tudor style uniforms, the White Tower, the Bloody Tower, the crown jewels, the Chapel of St. John, Tower Bridge, Traitors Gate, and Tower Green, the site of the executioner’s block.  The rest of the afternoon we are free to pursue some of our own interests in small groups with chaperones.  Dinner and overnight London. DAY 4: Monday, March 12, 2018 - Today we travel to St. Alban’s, where, in 209 AD, a Roman soldier became the country’s first Christian martyr when he was beheaded for giving shelter to a priest.  We visit St. Alban’s Cathedral, which once was one of the largest churches in the Christian world.  We visit the Clock Tower and climb the 93 narrow steps to the top where we will enjoy magnificent views of St. Albans.  We continue through the scenic English countryside to Cambridge, home of Cambridge University where we tour some of the colleges and the magnificent Kings College Chapel where every year the famous Christmas Eve service is broadcast to the world.  Dinner and overnight Cambridge area. BD

DAY 5: Tuesday, March 13, 2018 - After breakfast we depart for Coventry where we enjoy a tour and see the medieval cathedral which was bombed and virtually destroyed by the German Luftwaffe in World War II and then the modern cathedral which was built inside the medieval shell as a monument to peace.  We continue to Warwick to enjoy a fun visit to Warwick Castle, a 14th c fortress with dungeons, reproductions of a royal weekend party from 1898 and an entertaining look at court life in 19th century England.  Overnight near Coventry. BD

DAY 6: Wednesday, March 14, 2018 - Our journey continues to the ancient circle of stones at Stonehenge which were placed here around 2800 BC and the purpose of which still mystifies historians.  We will stop at Old Sarum to see the ruins of the cathedral begun by Bishop Herman and continued by St. Osmund.  The cathedral was consecrated in 1092 and razed in 1331 to provide building materials for Salisbury.  We continue to Salisbury for a visit to Salisbury Cathedral, the Cathedral Close and the beautiful little town that surrounds it.  We attend “Evensong” at Salisbury Cathedral.  Dinner and overnight in the Salisbury area. BD

DAY 7: Thursday, March 15, 2018 - We travel to the small village of Charing, where we walk the traditional path of the Old Pilgrim’s WayCharing is a small historic village with a pretty parish church and a former Archbishop’s Palace where Henry VII stayed en route to Dover.  The Pilgrim’s Way runs adjacent to the village, partly over the Kent Downs, some gentle hills and pretty tree lined paths.  We walk part of the way and then drive to Chilham, a small hilltop village where we will enjoy a pub lunch and then drive another short way toward to Thannington where we will begin our final walk into Canterbury.  Dinner and overnight Canterbury. DAY 8: Friday, March 16, 2018 -Today we visit Canterbury Cathedral where we will learn about the history and spirituality of the Cathedral and the concept and practice of pilgrimage.  We will also tour the Cathedral focusing on pilgrimage including a short meditation on the theme "Journey Inward, Journey Outward".  We will attend a candlelit short Taize style service at the nearby ancient parish church of St. Martins and visit St. Augustine Abbey which is the burial place of Augustine.  This evening enjoy a “Pilgrimage Tour” (pending confirmation) with the Cathedral staff.  Dinner and overnight Canterbury. BD

DAY 9: Saturday, March 17, 2018 - We will have a morning visit to Dover, Britain’s historic gateway to Europe, a city which still shows the scars of the bombardments of World War II.  We visit Dover Castle, towering high above the chalk ramparts of the famous White Cliffs Dover Castle was once one of the mightiest medieval castles in Western Europe and the first building on the site was the Roman Pharos, or lighthouse, which still remains.  Most of the castle dates to Norman times and was begun by Henry II in 1181.  Under the castle are the Hellfire Caves, a network of tunnels (a military secret until recently).  We return to Canterbury for Evensong before our “farewell to England” dinner and overnight in Canterbury. DAY 10: Sunday, March 18, 2018 - After breakfast we depart for London Heathrow Airport where we board our American Airlines flight back into Miami, FL. BM

* Excludes airline taxes & fuel surcharges that will be added to your final payment invoice and tips for the driver and guide that are payable upon completion of services.  The estimated taxes & fuel surcharges are $463.46 per pilgrim.  The price is not guaranteed and may change due to the fluctuation of the British Pound and the US dollar.  We make every effort to avoid any increase and will only do so if the value of the dollar falls against the British Pound.  Your pricing was based on the exchange rate of $1.30 to the British Pound.  Optional activities and sites visited during your free time are not included in the cost of the pilgrimage and are to be paid for at the time of your visit.

Single Supplement:  $389.00 (limited space).  If a roommate cannot be found, I understand that I will be charged for the single supplement.

Final payment due December 1, 2017.
