DAY 2: Saturday, May 2, 2015 - Upon arrival in London, we clear immigration, meet our driver, board our coach and our journey begins.  We enjoy a panoramic sightseeing tour.  We see Buckingham Palace, home of the Queen, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.  We see Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, which is guarded by the Beefeaters and contains the crown jewels, and Westminster Abbey, site of the coronations of Britain’s royalty.  This afternoon we will be free to explore on our own.  This evening we enjoy a “welcome to England” dinner.  Overnight at the Royal Foundation of St. Katharine, East London. D

DAY 3: Sunday, May 3, 2015 & DAY 4: Monday, May 4, 2015 - Retreat Days.  We will be free to explore on our own.  Places that may be of interest are St. Paul’s Cathedral, the great Gothic building which was designed by Sir Christopher Wren to replace the medieval cathedral destroyed in the fire of 1666.  The crypt here contains the tombs of Admiral Nelson and the Duke of Wellington.  You may want to explore Westminster Abbey and the reconstructed Globe Theater on the banks of the Thames.  Dinner and overnight at the Royal Foundation of St. Katharine, East London. BD

DAY 5: Tuesday, May 5, 2015 - Today we travel to Pooh Corner, the shop which specializes in Winnie-the- Pooh and is home to the world’s largest selection of “Pooh-phemalia”.  This afternoon we continue on to Canterbury, the center of English Christianity.  We visit Canterbury Cathedral, seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury, leader of the Anglican Communion and site of the murder of Thomas a’ Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury.  Time permitting we will have time to explore the many offerings of this great city on our own before we join together for Evensong at the Cathedral.  This evening we will be free to enjoy dinner on our own.  Overnight Falstaff Hotel, Canterbury. B

DAY 6: Wednesday, May 6, 2015 - We start the day at 8:00 AM with Communion at Canterbury Cathedral.  Our journey continues to Dover, Britain’s historic gateway to Europe, a city which still shows the scars of the bombardments of World War II.  Dover Castle, towering high above the chalk ramparts of the famous White Cliffs, is spectacular.  Once one of the mightiest medieval castles in Western Europe, the first building on the site was the Roman Pharos, or lighthouse which still remains.  Most of the castle dates to Norman times and was begun by Henry II in 1181.  Under the castle are the Hellfire Caves, a network of tunnels (a military secret until recently).  We continue on to Hastings where we visit Battle Abbey, founded by William the Conqueror to atone for the Battle of Hastings, and built on the battlefield with the church’s altar positioned over the site where King Harold fell.  We return to the Falstaff Hotel, Canterbury for dinner and overnight. BD

DAY 7: Thursday, May 7, 2015 - After breakfast we depart for Norwich.  We visit the beautiful Norwich Cathedral and the cell of Julian of Norwich located in St. Julian’s Church.  Mother Julian spent many years meditating on the meaning of visions and she wrote a book, the first book written by a woman in English, known as Revelations of Divine Love.  We continue on to Walsingham, our home for the next two nights.  Dinner and overnight Milner Wing, Our Lady of Walsingham. BD
