DAY 3: Sunday, June 27 through DAY 7: Thursday, July 1, 2010- We step back into the Celtic spiritual history of Scotland on this enchanting Island.  Iona (Scottish Gaelic:  Ì Chaluim Chille) is a small island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland that has an important place in the history of Christianity in Scotland and is renowned for its tranquility and natural beauty.  Its modern Gaelic name means "Iona of Saint Columba" (formerly anglicised "Icolmkill").  A monastery was established by St. Columba here in the 6th century and Columba died here on in 597.  Iona is a true “thin space” where through the ages pilgrims have sensed the nearness of the holy.  We will spend full days participating in the Iona Community.  Overnight Iona.

DAY 8: Friday, July 2, 2010 - Today we depart Iona via ferry to Oban and then drive across the enchanting beauty to Edinburgh.  This afternoon we will be free to explore on our own in small groups with a chaperone.  A special treat for the group tonight will be a Scottish Banquet dinner complete with haggis, tatties and neeps along with traditional dancing and music.  Overnight Edinburgh. D

DAY 9: Saturday, July 3, 2010 - This morning we begin our exploration of Edinburgh.  We will see the Royal Mile, the shopping district to Princess Street, the medieval town, the elegant squares of the Victorian and Georgian part of the city, St. Giles Cathedral, the Palace of Holyrood House which is the official residence of the Queen of England when she is in Scotland, and the Castle.  Time permitting, we will be free to wander the ancient cobbled streets, shop, or visit one or two of the many art galleries and museums in small groups with chaperones.  We continue on to Aberdeen for dinner and overnight. BD

DAY 10: Sunday, July 4, 2010 - After breakfast, we attend St. Andrew’s Cathedral for worship services.  The other activities for the day are being coordinated by your leaders.  More information about the activities will be given to you as you prepare for your pilgrimage.  Aberdeen, located on the North Sea, is Scotland’s third largest city and home of Balmoral Castle where The Queen comes for holidays, a tradition dating back to the days of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.  Dinner and overnight Aberdeen.
