DAY 1, Friday, March 4, 2016 - Depart from Washington Dulles Airport on Turkish Airways for our overnight flight to Istanbul, Turkey. M

DAY 2: Saturday, March 5, 2016 - We arrive in Istanbul, clear immigration and board our connecting flight to Izmir (Ancient Biblical Smyrna).  We meet our guide and driver after obtaining our luggage and, eager to begin, we board our motor coach and proceed to Kusadasi for dinner and overnight.  Overnight Korumar Hotel, Kusadasi. DAY 3: Sunday, March 6, 2016 - After breakfast in our hotel, we begin with an early morning visit to Ephesus, the most excavated city in the world.  The ruins here are magnificent including the stadium where Paul preached, the marble streets, the Library of Celsius and the amphitheater.  We will visit the Double Church of St. Mary (site of the Ecumenical Council) where, if we are able to obtain special permission, we will celebrate Holy Eucharist. After lunch in the area, we will continue to “The Last Abode of the Virgin Mary” where, according to some theories, Mary lived before her death.  We will return to Kusadasi for dinner and overnight.  Overnight Korumar Hotel. DAY 4: Monday, March 7, 2016 - This morning we head almost due east into inland Turkey.  First we will visit Aphrodisias, the city of Aphrodite, goddess of love.  The ruins are a huge site with The Temple of Aphrodite, the Odeon, and the stadium, seating 30,000 people.  This stadium is one of the finest ruins in the world.  We will visit the ruins of Laodicea, one of the Biblical Seven Churches, before continuing to Pammukale, one of the most famous sites in all of Turkey.  Mineral – rich spring water cascades over basins and natural terraces, crystallizing into white curtains of solidified water seemingly suspended in air.  You will have the opportunity for an evening swim in the warm thermal waters.  Dinner and overnight Pam Hotel Pamukkale. DAY 5: Tuesday, March 8, 2016 - This morning we will drive to Bergama (Pergamum), another of the Biblical Seven Churches (Rev. 2:12) to see The Acropolis, Altar of Zeus, Temple of Dionysus and the Theater.  We visit the first “whole health center”, the Asclepion, and begin to understand more about the world Paul inhabited.  We head for the airport in Izmir where we board our late afternoon flight to Istanbul.  Overnight Hotel Mercure, Istanbul. DAY 6: Wednesday, March 9, 2016 - After breakfast in our hotel, we begin our exploration of Istanbul with a visit to Kariye Museum also known as St. Saviour in Chora where we will find some of the most glorious frescoes and mosaics in all of Turkey.  We visit the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople home to Bartholomew, the Ecumenical Patriarch of the Orthodox Church.  We continue to Topkapi Palace, home to the Sultans, where you will get a glimpse of the luxurious lifestyle of the Sultans during the Ottoman Empire.  We visit the Arkeoloji Museum (archaelogical museum) which contains a fine collection of Greek and Roman antiquities before returning to our hotel in Istanbul.  Overnight Hotel Mercure. DAY 7: Thursday, March 10, 2016 - We visit Yerbatan Saray (Sunken Palace) also known as the Basilica Cistern.  We explore the underground network of waterways created at the behest of Emperor Constatine.  We will visit the world famous Hagia Sophia, once the largest church in all of Christendom, then converted to a mosque, and now a museum.  We will see the ancient Hippodrome, the center of Constantinople’s political and sporting life and the scene of games for 500 years during Ottoman rule.  We visit the Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Camil), known for the blue tiles which surround its interior.  Our coach will now take us to the famous Spice Market where we will have an hour or so to shop before we have a “gala farewell to Turkey” dinner.  Overnight Hotel Mercure. DAY 8: Friday, March 11, 2016 - We board our coach and transfer to the airport where we bid our driver and guide goodbye and board our return flight to the United States.  There will be time on the way home to reflect on those sites and experiences you will want to be a part of the pilgrimage you lead when you return with your own group to this “Second Holy Land”. Price: $899.00. Price is based on double occupancy with roundtrip air from Washington's Dulles Airport on Turkish Airways without airline taxes and fuel surcharges.  Air transportation available from other cities.  Single supplement:  $299.00 (only 3 available)

Cost does not include airline taxes and fuel surcharges currently estimated to be $402.00.  These will be added to your final invoice.

For US Citizens, a passport which is valid for 6 months after your return to the USA (September 12, 2106) is required.  A visa is also required and can be obtained at the airport in Istanbul upon landing or online prior to departing the USA at eVisa Electronic Application System.  The cost for the visa is currently $20.00 per person.
