DAY 1: Wednesday, March 11, 2015 - Depart the San Francisco Airport for our flight on United Airlines connecting in Newark.  There we transfer to our trans-Atlantic flight on United Airlines into Tel Aviv. M

DAY 2: Thursday, March 12, 2015 - Our Pilgrimage in this Holy Land begins:  We meet our guide for the Holy Land and transfer by motor coach to our hotel by the Mediterranean Sea.  Time, perhaps for an afternoon stroll along the beach before dinner and overnight in our beachfront hotel in Netanya. D

DAY 3: Friday, March 13, 2015 - After breakfast we travel north toward Caesarea, once capital of the Roman province.  We have come to see for ourselves:  (Jn. 1:45-46) Herod’s City-Caesarea.  Here we will visit the Roman and Crusader remains and the harbor from which St. Paul was taken prisoner to Rome.  We travel to Akko, the walled port city that still shows the imprint of the crusader occupants.  Our journey continues to Tiberias where we will visit the “Jesus Boat” Museum to see the boat which dates from Jesus’ time that was found in the mud around the Sea of Galilee.  We continue to our hotel located on the Sea of Galilee in Tiberias for dinner and overnight. DAY 4: Saturday, March 14, 2015 - He is going ahead of us to Galilee” (Mt. 28):  The sea; On the boat; Capernaum; Tabgha; Mount of Beatitudes; Golan Heights; Caesarea Phillippi; Mt. Hermon; Chorazin.  We take a boat on the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum where we walk in the ancient synagogue and see St. Peter’s house.  We visit Tabgha to view the mosaic of the Loaves and Fishes and then to the Mt. of Beatitudes where we rehear the Sermon on the Mount.  We continue to Chorazin (Mt. 11:21), then to the Springs of Banias (Mt. 16:13), where Peter said:  “Thou art Christ.”  There we walk along the Jordan River where we may renew our Baptismal vows and reach the foot of Mt. Hermon before we return to Tiberias for dinner and overnight. BD

DAY 5: Sunday, March 15, 2015 - The Majesty of Carmel; Armageddon; Nazareth . . . Today we visit Mt. Carmel (Is. 35:2), a symbol of strength, beauty and fertility for OT prophets.  Traditionally, Elijah’s contest with the prophets of Baal is located at Muhraqa (“the sacrifice’), a peak offering a spectacular view of the Jezreel Valley.  This fertile valley, also known as the plain of Megiddo, has been the scene of horrible carnage and almost constant strife.  Legend portrays this area as the stage for the final battle of history:  Armageddon (Rev. 16:16). The excavations at Megiddo have uncovered a fortified city built by Solomon (1 Kgs. 9:15).  We proceed to Nazareth, where we visit the Basilica of the Annunciation and then return to our hotel in Tiberias for dinner and overnight. DAY 6: Monday, March 16, 2015 - The Jordan River Valley to Jericho and “Up to Jerusalem”:  Bet Shean, Jericho, Jerusalem.  After breakfast we make our way down the Jordan Valley to visit, We visit the Roman theater and excavations.  We continue to Jericho, the oldest city in the world.  From this city’s walls we have a spectacular view of the “Mt. of Temptation”.  We continue to the Essene Center at Qumran overlooking the Dead Sea.  It was here that the famous Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered.  We shall continue to our hotel for dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. DAY 7: Tuesday, March 17, 2015 - The Passion:  Palm Sunday Walk; Dominus Flevit; Garden of Gethsemane; The Church of the Agony; The Cave of the Olive Press, through the Kidron Valley to the House of Caiaphas.  From here we shall move on to walk the Via Dolorosa, winding through the busy markets of the Old City and praying at the Stations of the Cross.  We shall end our walk at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, scene of the Crucifixion and site of the Tomb.  Dinner and overnight Jerusalem. BD

DAY 8: Wednesday, March 18, 2015 - Life’s Bread:  Jerusalem and Bethlehem: Through St. Stephen’s Gate to the Holy City we walk to St. Anne’s Church, standing on a property facing the Temple Mount just as it was built by the crusaders.  Once inside we find ourselves singing (the acoustics are glorious).  Nearby, we visit excavations which speak to us of Jesus’ healing at the “pool with the five porticos.”  We walk together to the Temple Mount Dig, the Dome of the Rock, the Western Wailing Wall and the Jewish Quarter.  From there we go to St. Mark’s Syrian Orthodox Church, possible site of the Upper Room.  We travel to Bethlehem and have lunch at Two Mustaches (a wonderful Arab restaurant) and then visit the Church of the Nativity and Shepherd’s Field.  Tonight there will be an opportunity to learn of St. George’s Anglican Cathedral and College and join in evening prayer at St. George’s.  Dinner and overnight Jerusalem. DAY 9: Thursday, March 19, 2015 - New Jerusalem:  We will have some free time this morning.  We will have a quick visit to the Israel Museum.  Here we find the Shrine of the Book where, beneath its onion shaped dome, the Dead Sea Scrolls are displayed.  We will see the model that depicts Jerusalem at the time of Jesus.  We continue to Emmaus, mentioned in scriptures as the place where Jesus appeared to travelers after the Resurrection.  We will celebrate Holy Eucharist here before returning to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. DAY 10: Friday, March 20, 2015 - We cross the Allenby Bridge into Jordan and drive a short distance to the Christian town of Madaba to see the famous Mosiac Map with Jerusalem at its center.  We continue to Mt.Nebo where Moses saw the Promised Land for the first and last time and continue down the desert highway into the hills near Petra to overnight at Dana Nature Reserve. BD

DAY 11: Saturday, March 21, 2015 - We start our hike at the village of Dana.  We wander around its charming streets and visit the Royal Society for Conservation of Nature Center.  Nearby are the orchards of the village with pomegranate, figs and other trees fed by a mountain spring.  We enjoy the dramatic views of the Araba Valley in the distance.  We head down Wadi Dana that cuts through multiple geological layers to our eco-lodge at Feynan for our overnight. DAY 12: Sunday, March 22, 2015 - We drive from Feynan to Petra and explore this Red Rose city.  We walk through the dramatic siq and see the Treasury, carved in the pink stone, and continue past the Roman theatre, the Corinthian Tomb and Palace Tomb to the Roman road.  For those who wish to take the 60 minute walk to the Monastery they will be rewarded with one of the best sites in Petra.  Dinner and overnight Petra. BD

DAY 13: Monday, March 23, 2015 - We drive the desert highway to the Allenby Bridge and cross back into Israel.  We will transfer to the Tel Aviv airport for the evening departure flight. BD

DAY 14: Tuesday, March 24, 2015 - We arrive into Newark and connect to our final flight arriving back into San Francisco this morning. M

Price: $3,749.00.  Price is based on double occupancy without airline taxes and fuel surcharges.  Pricing based on minimum of 15 pilgrims.  Roundtrip air from San Francisco on United Airlines.  Air transportation available from other cities.  Single supplement:  $1,179.00

Note that Israel is a physically demanding destination.  Good shoes and some preparing for the trip on the stair master are invaluable aids to a healthy and happy pilgrimage.
